Federator Features - Faster, More Relevant Search from Across Your Enterprise and Beyond
Merged Ranking
The merging and re-ranking of Federator's results is easily configurable.
This allows consistent ranking schemes to be applied across all sources, so that the most relevant hits always come out on top when results from different sources are merged. Conversely, custom ranking and merging modules can be developed to give higher weight to results from specific sources.
Result Filtering
Unwanted results, such as those with broken links, unacceptable content, outdated information, and so on, can be filtered out of result lists with custom filtering modules. Similarly, duplicates can be removed to reduce clutter in the result list. If desired, the ranking of results with duplicates can be enhanced to reflect that more than one information source considered them to be important.
Incremental Results
In networked environments, different information sources can return results at different rates. Federator's all-Java infrastructure allows for results to be displayed as soon as they are returned, with incremental changes displayed as results from slower sources are returned, filtered, merged and ranked. Federator can also be configured to return results one page at a time, providing end-users with yet another way to more easily digest information from multiple sources.
Federated Taxonomies
Verity's unique Federated Taxonomies let you put federated search results in the context of your corporate taxonomies. This powerful capability adds significant value to federated search by classifying query results from multiple sources into your corporate taxonomies in real time so your users can view them in the context of your business environment.
Federated Recommendation
Federated search results can be used to power the Recommendation Engine, and automatically enhance search relevancy, recommend documents, categories and queries, locate experts and bring together communities of practice.
Federated Summaries
Federated search results can be returned with intelligent summaries that show the context in which the query terms appear in the document. Other summary functionality unique to Verity includes administrator-defined summary length and search-term highlighting within summaries.
